Liverpool fans who are eagerly anticipating deadline day signings at Anfield have been warned they might be disappointed.
In contrast to the £446m trolley dash from 2025, the Reds have been far more measured in this summer’s window, with just three players signed since the end of last season, one of whom (Ronald Araujo) is on loan.
The Merseysiders did confirm the arrival of Bradley Barcola for an initial £106m on Monday, although they now have only a few hours to add to Andoni Iraola’s squad before the market shuts for four months.
Liverpool maintain ‘their business is done’
Transfer reporter Alex Crook has claimed that Liverpool chiefs are satisfied with the business completed this summer and aren’t likely to bring in any more players before the deadline at 11pm tonight.
Speaking on talkSPORT‘s White and Jordan show, he said: “Interestingly, I’ve been speaking to people at Liverpool this morning and they tell me their business is done in terms of incomings in this window.
“I think Liverpool fans on deadline day might be a bit disappointed with the lack of numbers they’ve recruited this summer. They haven’t replaced Mohamed Salah on that right-hand side.”

A vastly underwhelming transfer window from Liverpool
Deadline day can often throw up the possibility of a last-minute surprise, but all the signs from Anfield are that the Reds won’t be making any 11th-hour additions.
That’ll come as a massive anti-climax for a lot of Liverpool fans who have justifiable concerns about a lack of depth at right-back, the right-hand side of attack and in defensive midfield, and that’s before any further injuries arise as the season goes on.
Andoni Iraola has been vociferous from day 1 about wanting a large enough squad to contend with four different competitions this term, so for Richard Hughes to leave the head coach short in several key positions constitutes a bitterly disappointing transfer window.
When also taking into account the loss of Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers (plus Curtis Jones to Inter Milan) and all the top-level experience they’ve accrued, it’s difficult to feel that the Reds have really strengthened over the summer.
From tomorrow onwards, the onus will be on Iraola to make the best out of the players at his disposal, but there’ll be a prevailing sentiment that he’s been let down by those in the Anfield boardroom in his first season in charge of the team.
They have spent too much unnecessarily last season. Now they need to clean up the mess. Heard rumors on hughes that he is already working for his new boss while dealing with our transfers. Not very professional and don’t know why our owners can allow such things to happen. Since they trust Iraola and hire him, grant him all the transfers authority. He has done a good job at bournemouth with his shrewd signings. Look at alonso, he is slowly rebuilding chelsea into a force to be reckon with because they gave him full authority on transfers.
You are right his new club is Al Hilal and it was said he was juggling the transfer window and deals for both clubs. I am glad he is going he finally admitted demolishing the depth of the squad was a mistake, yet this summer We have lost another 4 regular first teamers an aging Virgil on his last season and could potentially lose Allison too. We need a RB, a defensive midfielder, a RW and forward minimum

You’re absolutely right. The sooner Richard Hughes departs from Anfield the better. Why not give Iraola the authority to decide on transfers? He knows better than Hughes.
Apart from the glaring lack of cover at RB I think Iraola will surprise us by encouraging our posse of left wingers to be able to play on both flanks and maybe have Gakpo cover CF too.
Although injuries will always be part of any teams picture… I’d like to think that when Ekitike, Leoni & Bradley are back fit we’ll be in good shape.
Why are we not jumping in for Lamine Camara at Monaco..Chelsea are obviously wanting Mone.

Lamine Camara is more of an attacking mid/box-to-box than a DM. Good player and we could do with him, but for DM we need more of a Caicedo-type player.
Liverpool will buy Lamine Camara next year when his price will be above £100m…and Premier League proven. Same for Mamadou Sangare, £100m+
Hughes needs to be tarred, drawn and quartered, and FSG also have a lot to answer for. It’s hard to imagine we have enough depth to win anything, or even make top 4/5. Absolute disgrace.

LFC have failed to replace Matip.
LFC have failed to replace Fabinho.
LFC have failed to replace Wijnaldum.
LFC have failed to replace Mane.
LFC have failed to replace Milner.
LFC have failed to replace Robertson.
LFC have failed to replace Firmino.
LFC have failed to replace Salah.
Since Klopp left, Edwards and Hughes have rightly effed things up and left LFC in a worst state. FSG are also not helping.
446 million was spent last summer although players sold meant that the net spend was 218 million.
A few days ago Iraola gave an interview and he was certain that more players would be added to the squad , not just Barcola. So Iraola will be the most dissapointed with what FSG haven’t given him.
Money is available, but as usual FSG have held back.
Iraola has to manage with a squad that’s not good enough to challenge at the top of the premier league, or anything else.
When champions league fixtures come with premier league and rotation is needed we will struggle.
No right back, frimpong isnt good enough Bradley not back until November.

Look at the squad when players will need to be rotated and it’s nowhere near good enough.
FSG are happy with minimum which is champions league revenues next season. I don’t think we’ll even get that.

I suspect Liverpool will be OK, but we are still short as I would have liked a holding midfielder and a natural right winger, but we spent heavily last year so I guess this will be it. We got Munoz and Barcola to help up top. We have the young French centre-half Jacquet and the former Barcelona captain Araujo for the backline, so I think we will be ok.
The biggest problem is the midfield gets caught out on the counter. The ones we have are attackers and seem to be out of position and too focused on the attack. Going forward they are decent, but defensively aren’t sound and they expose our back four too easily. We need to fix that and quickly.
The biggest problem we have is how to get Wirtz and Isak firing. We have one of the most expensive attacks in the EPL. Those two need to start producing and play with fire and desire. They don’t seem to have that hunger. They need to look at clips of the South American players’ never-say-die attitude – Darwin was not the greatest finisher but a beast of a player. Suarez a beast on the field. They need that hunger – they’re too nice and cute and they lack passion. You cannot train that into people but they need it.
Hughes has been a disaster for Liverpool. He has single handedly set us back years. A massive ego and complete incompetence are a dangerous combination in any job but he will soon be off to earn tax free millions and us Liverpool fans will have to live with the fall out of his inexplicably dumb tenure. I hope he is not welcome back at Anfield any time soon.
Spot on that ! Richard Hughes is nothing short of a disgrace, only came in because he was mates with Edwards, look what he is doing for Iraola, leaving him with unbalanced, threadbare squad, never liked the way he seemed to bring all his mates from Bournmouth with him. When we done the Barcola deal, PSG never mentioned his name, what’s he being doing all summer, working on the side for Alhilal, should give his wages back
