Sky Sports reports on X (formerly Twitter) that the Seagulls are holding out for £80m after rejecting the Reds’ latest £60m bid for the Gambian.
The right-sided winger is expected to be out injured until October.

The Reds may really want to add Minteh to their squad this summer, but the fact of the matter is that £80m for an injured footballer who had a solid, but far from incredible, 2025/26 season is insane.

Look, we’re not naive; we know this isn’t simply Brighton being strong sellers, as they’ve proven historically with their excellent transfer strategy in the Premier League.

This is a club fully taking advantage of the fact that Andoni Iraola’s men are desperate for a naturally right-sided winger at a time when we’re bursting at the seams with left-sided options.
And credit to them. Why should our poor recruitment this summer get in the way of Brighton receiving a fee that they feel reflects the value of one of their top assets?
It’s just disappointing that Liverpool have worked themselves into a corner where they’re now utterly reliant on Bradley Barcola and, potentially, a mystery additional winger being added in the window.
Ibrahim Mbaye is still an option for Liverpool
Liverpool are, we understand, considering alternative targets to bolster the right wing.
However, we do think it’s worth emphasising that PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye remains a viable option for our recruitment team this summer.
Yes, we appear to have taken a step back from talks with the Senegal international, but if we were prepared to fork out £60m for Minteh, it’s believed that PSG would be prepared to accept a similar figure for the teenager.
We appreciate that Liverpool are running into a similar problem of overpaying for a footballer beyond their internal valuations.
But with six days until the window closes, we really need to see some progress made.

Brighton definitely taking the “p***” £80 Mil for Minteh a crocked player if Hughes bites that offer he needs to see a Psychiatrist. Put max effort into Barcola keep Gagpo , and find a useful winger that can play left & right as back up on a loan or free deal thus keeping funds for the next window . Do it now the clock is ticking.

Ive always said, go for Mbaye over Minteh. 80M for Minteh is ridiculous esp when he’s not going to be available for at least 3 months. So yes get Mbaye in ASAP.
